Brun Castle was the home of Queen Mary, wife of King Ferdinand. She was a very beautiful lady who in her lifetime had seven known lovers.

The guide told us that Queen Mary had seven suitors while she was married...but only one at a time! I guess that made it more respectable! She loved Brun Castle and frequented it....with it's secret pass way for her men visitors. We climbed the very stairs in that secret passage....dark and made me a bit nervous as it was tight and long.

Vic goes in first, but since there is no other way to get to the next area...I take a huge breath and...

Queen Mary's Bedroom

Before she died she asked for her heart to be buried at Brun, but it has since been relocated to the Museum of Natural History in Bucharest. The people love her so much as she attended the conference after the war in France (the only woman) and demanded to have the lands taken from Romania given back.....hence "Who do you think you are....the queen of Romania?". She managed to get the lands back with a trade of her beloved Brun Castle. Sometime later she got it returned too. She had a lover from America named Sam Hill...hence "What in the Sam Hill is that?


 

King Ferdinand's rooms....remember this is a summer castle. Later you'll see the castle he inherited from his uncle.
